Budgeting with Excel, QuickBooks and PowerPoint

In this class, I will work with your organization's staff to develop, present and monitor a budget. You will learn:

  • The definition of a budget and how it can be used as a management tool
  • The value of a consistent financial history in budget development
  • How to export financial information to Excel
  • How to use Excel to create what-if scenarios
  • How to use your expense and revenue budgets to automatically generate cash flow and balance sheet budgets
  • How to transfer your information to PowerPoint to create presentations

Accounting and Financial Management for the Non-Financial Manager

In this class I will work with staff who do not get involved in day to day bookkeeping but who need good financial information to mange a single program or the entire organization. (For those totally unfamiliar with accounting systems it is recommended that Accounting 101 be taken first). You will learn:

  • The basic concepts of Accounting
  • The roles of the financial staff, the executive director and the board
  • The basics of budgeting
  • How to interpret financial reports
  • How to communicate financial information to the board and those outside the organization
  • How to integrate various computer applications into useable information
  • How to evaluate your organization's financial management systems

Financial Management for Non-Profit Boards

In this class, I will help board members fulfill fiduciary duties and their role as stewards of the organization's finances. You will learn:

  • The appropriate roles and responsibilities of financial staff, the executive director and the board
  • The role of a board finance committee
  • The importance of good budgeting
  • How to read financial statements
  • How to evaluate your organization's financial management
  • How to evaluate your organization's financial management systems
